After the ECOWAS sanctions taken on Sunday January 9, 2022 against the military junta in Mali, three African and international organizations, namely AFRIKAJOM Center (Dakar), UJPLA (Abidjan) and GERDDES-Africa (Cotonou) are concerned about the stability of the country and the sub-region. To this end, they are appealing to Presidents Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana and Macky Sall of Senegal for the urgent resumption of negotiations with the Malian military junta in order to find an African solution to the crisis in Mali. « In view of the growing complexity of the security and geopolitical situation and in view of the economic, political and social crises which are worsening and aggravating the conflict, we solemnly invite President Macky Sall, Chairperson of the AU, President Nana Akufo Ado, Chairperson of ECOWAS and President Muhammadu Buhari to take all diplomatic initiatives required for an immediate resumption of sincere and open negotiations likely to lead to a rapid resolution of the crisis », the heads of the three organizations have jointly declared.
